Nathan
Hofheins
Nathan Hofheins writes music that lives at the intersection of two worlds — the warmth and presence of a live orchestra, and the emotional scope of a cinematic score. The result is something audiences haven't heard before.
Over a career spanning film, television, video games, and the concert stage, Nathan has worked with some of the most recognized names in music and entertainment — from Warner/Chappell Production Music to the Tabernacle Choir & Orchestra at Temple Square. He has orchestrated for major game titles including Honor of Kings, Lord of the Rings Online, Hogwarts Legacy, and Fortnite, and scored for television series including Spartacus, Xena, Hercules, The Librarians, and Ash vs. Evil Dead.
Today, Nathan's focus is on something he built from the ground up: the Cinematic Hybrid Orchestra Series — a catalog of orchestral works that give conductors a genuinely new programming tool, and audiences an experience they won't forget.
Cinematic
Hybrid
Orchestra Series
A catalog of orchestral works built for modern concert programming.
The Cinematic Hybrid Orchestra Series began with a simple question: what if a live orchestra could sound like a film score — without a screen, without a massive tech setup, and without sacrificing the intimacy of a live performance?
Each work in the series combines a full orchestral score with pre-recorded cinematic stems — voices, ambience, additional layers — that are triggered live from the podium using the CueConductor app. The stems play through a standard PA system. Audiences hear choirs with no choir onstage. They feel the weight of a film score with nothing on a screen. They experience something genuinely new.
The works are drawn from beloved classical repertoire — Rachmaninoff, Mozart, Brahms, Debussy, Liszt — reimagined with cinematic hybrid elements that connect classical audiences to the music they love in a fresh way, and open the door for audiences who've never sat in a concert hall before.
"The audiences really enjoyed the hybrid program and thought it was very innovative. Funny how several people were wondering if the orchestra was singing — they obviously didn't see a choir but heard voices."
